Yucatan’s New Chaac Statue Triumphs Amidst Poseidon Drama

The community in Yucatan celebrated the installation of a statue dedicated to Chaac, the Mayan god of rain and water. This tribute to the region's cultural heritage also serves as a symbol of resilience. The statue, towering over five meters high, stands as a beacon of cultural pride and defiance, especially in the wake of the controversy surrounding the Poseidon statue on Progreso beach.

Local authorities decided to honor the Mayan culture by installing the statue of Chaac as the guardian of waters and protector of the region's fishermen. This move aims to rejuvenate the connection with ancestral traditions and to invite abundance and prosperity to their lands.
