The Yucatan government has the lowest perceived corruption of all state governments in Mexico, according to data from the National Quality and Governmental Impact Survey. This survey, conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), ranks Yucatan as the least corrupt state in the country. This reflects positively on the administration led by Mauricio Vila Dosal.
The INEGI report also places Yucatan in the top two for corruption experiences and trust in institutions. This indicates that Yucatecans have a high level of confidence in their state government, significantly above the national average.
Such results affirm that Yucatan is in a historic period of transparency and accountability. The state has previously declared itself as the most competitive in the southeast of the country and among the top ten nationally in the State Competitiveness Index (ICE) of the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO). Furthermore, IMCO ranked Yucatan first in Political System and Government. This reflects the state government's efforts in regulatory improvement, anti-corruption measures, transparency, and citizen participation.
Yucatan also scores high in the Business Environment Index for its use of technology in conducting transactions and providing information about state government services. This has helped to increase public trust in state institutions.
The World Justice Project highlights Yucatan as one of the regions with the highest adherence to the Rule of Law. It also ranks among the top five states for accountability in the Open Justice Metric.
The trust and positive perception of the state government's work over the past six years have led to an influx of investment and job creation. This, along with unprecedented security levels and strategic projects, is marking a historic period for Yucatan. Infrastructure projects, such as the combined cycle plants in Merida and Valladolid, the Mayakan pipeline expansion, and the Welfare Industrial Poles, are opening up new global markets and promoting the state's development.
This collaborative approach has been key to Yucatan's success over the past six years. The state is committed to working tirelessly to transform and improve, regardless of political affiliations. The results of this effort can be seen in a fairer, more productive Yucatan, which many believe to be the best it has ever been.
