A tragic case of animal abuse has surfaced in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo. A man was seen forcefully submerging an American bully breed dog, named "Zeus", into the sea at Fundadores Beach. Despite pleas from onlookers to remove the dog from the water, the man continued his cruel act until the dog could no longer respond.
Ignoring the outrage from the crowd, the man managed to escape, leaving the lifeless body of the dog in the water. Some witnesses retrieved the dog from the sea and tried to revive it, but their efforts were in vain.
Lourdes Várguez Ocampo, the Secretary of the Environment of the Solidaridad Municipality, revealed that the dog had been stolen from its home a few days prior. The dog's owner is now gathering evidence to file a complaint with the State Attorney General's Office.
Postmortem examinations conducted at the CEBIAM confirmed that the dog died from aspiration pneumonia. The owner described Zeus as a very noble little dog, who was well cared for, with all his vaccinations and deworming treatments up to date.
