Cancún — Aguakan has commenced the renovation of the potable water network in Sector 4 of Playa del Carmen, with an investment exceeding 43.6 million pesos. The project aims to strengthen and expand the hydraulic infrastructure in the city's central zone, benefiting more than 14,000 people in the coming years, in response to the municipality's accelerated growth.

The project, which will run from September 2025 to March 2026, includes the installation of more than 18,400 meters of piping in diameters ranging from 3 to 18 inches, as well as the rehabilitation of 2,155 residential water intakes. These actions are intended to maintain the service in optimal conditions and reduce potential water leaks in the area.

The work will be executed in seven independent circuits using the open trench method, which involves replacing the existing network and enabling new water conduction lines.

The project is divided into three stages:

  • The first stage will take place on Avenida 10, between Avenida CTM and Calle 34 Norte.
  • The second stage will focus on the interior streets of circuits 1 through 5, located between Avenida 15 Norte and Avenida 10.
  • The third stage will cover circuits 6 and 7, from Avenida 10 to Calle Albatros, between Calle 38 Norte and CTM, including Quinta Avenida.

“For us, it is essential to keep pace with the urban growth of the municipality and to work in coordination with the municipal authorities of Playa del Carmen, always caring for the environment and maintaining strict order for the benefit of the residents,” said Jorge Rosas, Aguakan's Construction Coordinator.

These works are being carried out in coordination with the Honorable City Council of Solidaridad, as part of the comprehensive transformation of Avenida 10. This coordination allows for an orderly intervention and prevents future openings in the roadway.

To minimize disruptions for citizens, partial closures and alternate routes have been implemented, all of which are properly signposted. Aguakan urges users to stay informed through its official channels on Facebook and X (@DHCAGUAKAN), as well as the customer service line 073.

With over 30 years of experience in Quintana Roo, Aguakan reaffirms its commitment to modernizing hydraulic infrastructure, promoting projects that improve the quality of life for families and encourage the sustainable use of water resources in the municipality of Playa del Carmen.
