Cancún, Mexico — A major security operation unfolded overnight as authorities transferred 10 inmates classified as high-risk from the Chetumal Social Reintegration Center (Cereso) to the Cancún penitentiary. The operation, which began late Wednesday night and concluded around 5:00 a.m. Thursday, involved officers from the Procedural Police with support from the Mexican Navy (Semar) as part of the Prison Depressurization Program.

Details of the Transfer

Among the transferred inmates are:

  • Ángel Alexander P. G.
  • José Enrique M. C., alias "El Grande"
  • Pedro Damián S. H., known as "El Pisa"
  • Johan Asiel R. G.
  • Edgar Rafael V. A.
  • Ismael de Jesús V. A.
  • Uriel P. N.
  • Andrés de Jesús H. D., nicknamed "El Jarocho"
  • Roger Alejandro P. M.
  • Morray C.

Unofficial reports indicate that some of these individuals are allegedly linked to a criminal cell responsible for violent incidents in southern Quintana Roo. They were reportedly apprehended on June 1 following a confrontation with authorities.

Charges and Detention Conditions

Other transferred inmates are facing prosecution for high-impact crimes, including aggravated homicide, drug trafficking, and organized crime involvement. Prison authorities confirmed that the inmates will be held temporarily in a high-security area of the Cancún facility before being relocated to separate modules within the penitentiary.

The operation underscores ongoing efforts to manage prison populations and mitigate security risks in Quintana Roo’s correctional system.
