Cancún, Mexico — A violent altercation between intoxicated men ended with one individual severely macheted in Cancún on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 9. The incident occurred in the vicinity of 92-A Street near the Costa Maya area in Region 234, alarming residents who heard the victim’s cries for help.
Attack Stemmed from Alcohol-Fueled Dispute
Witnesses reported that the conflict began when the victim, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was verbally harassing others. Without warning, two individuals emerged and attacked him with machetes. It remains unclear whether the assault was targeted or an attempted robbery.
Local residents immediately dialed 911 upon hearing the victim’s screams for assistance. Municipal Police officers were the first to arrive at the scene, where they found a man bleeding profusely from multiple wounds inflicted by the bladed weapon.
Victim Suffers Severe Injuries
The victim, unofficially identified as "El Chilango," a known figure in the area, sustained life-threatening injuries. He lost a finger during the attack and suffered additional wounds to his head, face, and left arm.
Private paramedics arrived shortly after and provided emergency medical care, stabilizing the victim before transporting him to a hospital for specialized treatment. As of this report, his current condition remains unknown.
Investigation Underway
While emergency responders attended to the injured man, police secured the area to facilitate investigative procedures. The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office has opened an investigation and is gathering witness statements to identify and locate the perpetrators.
Authorities have yet to release further details regarding potential suspects or motives behind the attack.
