The General Directorate of Environmental Impact and Risk (Dgira), a part of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat), has initiated a public consultation for a project named “Exploitation of limestone below the water table on the property known as ‘Che-Hum'”. The project is located in the municipality of Solidaridad. The company seeking authorization for the Environmental Impact Manifest (EIM) is Tricoblocks del Sureste S.A. de C.V. The project has already received permission from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (SEMA) under resolutory SEMA/DS/SGPA/DIRA/2029/2023, but now requires the EIM.

Dgira has announced that the unified procedure for land use change, B-regional modality of the project in Quintana Roo, will be open for public review from March 14th to April 11th, 2025. This will allow any interested parties to suggest additional prevention and mitigation measures, as well as make any relevant observations. This process is in accordance with articles 34 clause IV of the General Law of Ecological Balance and Environmental Protection and 41, clause III of the regulation of the General Law of Ecological Balance and Environmental Protection in evaluative of environmental impact.

The project site is situated at kilometer 299, three kilometers from the town of Playa del Carmen, towards Cancun on Federal Highway 307. It is a four km diversion to the left on the dirt road in front of the Ocean Maya Royale Complex, specifically on the property identified as Che-Hum, Lot 068.

Dgira invites all interested parties to participate in the consultation of the EIM for the materials bank.
