20 Kilos of Meth Seized at Courier Company in Merida; FGR and SSPC Investigate
Merida, Yucatan — Federal authorities seized 20 kilograms of methamphetamine at a courier company in Merida, the Security Cabinet announced Thursday. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office (FGR) and the Security and Citizen Protection Secretariat (SSPC) have opened an investigation.
The seizure was part of coordinated operations against drug production and trafficking across several Mexican states, according to a joint statement. Officials did not disclose the name of the courier company, the sender or recipient of the package, its origin, or its destination.
The discovery follows a similar seizure in January 2025 at a courier company in southern Merida, where authorities found 7,200 doses of crystal meth and 10,800 doses of fentanyl. That package originated in Mexico City. It remains unclear whether the two seizures are linked or involved the same company. No arrests or sanctions were reported in the earlier case.
