Fishing boats docked at the Dorados de Playa Maya tournament in Tulum, Quintana Roo

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Ten boats took part in the 14th edition of the Dorados de Playa Maya fishing tournament, a sporting competition that brought together local and visiting anglers off the coast of Tulum, continuing a longstanding tradition in the municipality.

According to organizers, seven boats made it to the official weigh-in, a requirement to qualify for the awards ceremony after a day of fishing in Caribbean waters.

In the final standings, the boat Albatross claimed first place, followed by JR in second and Carey in third. Elohim took fourth place in a day marked by camaraderie among competing teams and sport-fishing enthusiasts.

Organizers highlighted that the tournament is part of traditional activities along Tulum’s coastal area and has grown over the years into a family-friendly sporting event for the local fishing community.

The event also recognized sponsors and municipal authorities who attended the opening and closing ceremonies, including representatives from the Tulum City Council and Johnny Padilla Monreal, who were present at the close of this 14-year-old tradition.
