Valladolid, Yucatán — The city of Valladolid in Yucatán is now home to the first mixed-use ecological residential development following the inauguration of Muúk Karant. Spanning 84 hectares of pristine jungle, the project aims to preserve 80% of the area while developing the remaining 20% with residential lots, museums, and other attractions.

A Commitment to Ecological and Cultural Preservation

Abraham Fabila, CEO of World Business Capital, the project's developer, emphasized the development's focus on environmental and cultural conservation. "This is a complex we have carefully designed with ecological considerations in mind, particularly in preserving pre-Hispanic roots. There’s no better place to protect and honor these traditions," Fabila stated.

Originally, Valladolid granted Muúk Karant zoning approval that would have required preserving only 30% of the jungle. However, the developers rejected this proposal, opting instead to safeguard 80% of the land. "When we talk about impacting the environment, we do so with full awareness. For instance, if residents must remove trees exceeding 15 centimeters in diameter from their lots, they will be required to replant 10 trees for each one removed. By the time the development is completed, we will have significantly more vegetation than when we started," Fabila explained.

Sustainable Infrastructure and Energy Solutions

Designed as an ecological project in both energy and water management, Muúk Karant will supply groundwater directly to residences. Treatment plants will optimize irrigation services, while all public lighting will rely on solar panels. Each residential lot will also feature its own electrical system. Additionally, the development will include charging stations for electric vehicles.

The project represents a pioneering effort in sustainable urban development, balancing modern living with environmental stewardship in one of Mexico’s most ecologically significant regions.
