Yucatan Governor Inaugurates Hotel Project Creating 270 Jobs in Merida

Merida, Yucatan — Yucatan Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena inaugurated the Las Brisas hotel on Thursday, a project officials say will create 270 jobs and reinforce the state’s appeal for tourism investment.

The governor was joined by Mexico’s Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Díaz Mena highlighted that the hotel represents an investment of 600 million pesos in the state capital, generating 85 direct and 185 indirect jobs.

“This investment translates into confidence and a future for Yucatan,” Díaz Mena said during the event.

The governor noted the hotel’s strategic location near Paseo Montejo and Merida’s historic center positions it as a key destination for business tourism. He said the project will strengthen services, boost commerce, and promote local culture.

Díaz Mena attributed the private investment to Yucatan’s legal certainty, security, institutional coordination, and responsible government support. He also referenced the ongoing “Santuario Maya” campaign promoting Yucatan’s cultural and tourism offerings worldwide.

The governor thanked Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for her “unconditional support” of Yucatan, emphasizing that federal-state coordination strengthens tourism promotion and connectivity.
