Woman Gets Wrong Dog After Flight to Mérida

Mérida, Yucatán — A woman shared her distressing experience on social media after arriving in Mérida, Yucatán, only to discover that airline Viva Aerobús had handed her the wrong dog. The incident went viral after the passenger documented the ordeal on TikTok under the username @latripleefe.

A Shocking Discovery Upon Arrival

According to her account, upon landing in Mérida, she was given a pet carrier bearing her name and tracking number. However, upon opening it, she found a larger, visibly dehydrated and dirty puppy inside—clearly not her own dog. Despite the confusion, she decided to care for the misplaced canine, affectionately naming him “Errorcito” (“Little Mistake”).

In a video posted online, the exhausted dog is seen lying down with his eyes closed as the woman humorously recounts the situation. “Viva Aerobús swapped my puppy for this guy. Someone here isn’t supposed to be in Mérida, and I won’t say who,” she joked.

Airline Denies Immediate Responsibility

The passenger claimed that Viva Aerobús staff refused to take responsibility for the mix-up. “They told me the carrier had my name on it, so it wasn’t their fault. They literally washed their hands of it,” she explained in a follow-up video. When she considered leaving the dog at the airport while the issue was resolved, airline personnel warned her that doing so could be considered abandonment, further complicating matters.

A Happy Reunion for Both Dogs

After hours of uncertainty, Viva Aerobús located the woman’s original dog and arranged for her to be flown to Mérida on another flight. The emotional reunion was captured on video, showing the owner tearfully embracing her pet.

Meanwhile, a user from Monterrey recognized “Errorcito” as her missing dog and coordinated his return thanks to the viral attention the case received.

Though the incident caused significant stress, it concluded with both dogs safely reunited with their owners, turning an unfortunate mistake into an unusual but heartwarming story.
