Woman Trapped in Wreckage After Crash on Playa del Carmen-Tulum Highway

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A woman in her 60s suffered serious injuries after becoming trapped in her vehicle following a rear-end collision on the Playa del Carmen-Tulum federal highway.

The accident occurred just past the Calica bridge, heading south toward Puerto Aventuras. One of the vehicles involved was severely damaged after slamming into another car.

The elderly woman was pinned inside the twisted wreckage, sustaining injuries to her head, neck, and back. Civil protection personnel, firefighters, and paramedics from Unit 11 worked to extricate her and rushed her to a hospital.

The driver of the transport vehicle involved in the crash emerged largely unharmed, though the vehicle sustained significant damage from the impact.
