Woman Charged for Prostituting Students in Cancún

Cancún, Mexico — The Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo has announced that a control judge has formally charged Elizabeth Shekina "N" for her alleged involvement in the crime of human trafficking in the modality of pimping, to the detriment of underage middle school students in Cancún.

Secondary School Students Victims of Exploitation

The events occurred at a secondary school located in the Supermanzana 64 district. At this institution, and thanks to the program "Prevention Through Education," two adolescents were successfully rescued.

According to the investigation, the victims were recruited by a female classmate under the promise of work as "escorts" in exchange for money and gifts. They were subsequently handed over to the accused, Elizabeth Shekina, who managed the clients and coordinated the sexual encounters in motels both inside and outside of Quintana Roo.

The services cost between 2,500 and 3,000 pesos per appointment, of which Elizabeth Shekina kept 500 pesos as a commission.

Judicial Measures and Case Follow-Up

Following the formal charging, the judge determined the imposition of the precautionary measure of preventive detention for the accused for a period of one year or until the judicial process is concluded.

The Attorney General's Office will continue with the investigations and the safeguarding of the victims to guarantee their protection, ensuring the application of the law in cases of human trafficking and sexual exploitation of minors.

The case has generated alerts about the importance of prevention programs and the early detection of risk situations in schools. The authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to the protection of children and adolescents in Quintana Roo.
