Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The official launch of the "Let’s Playa, Let’s Move" event marked the debut of the first phase of the Wellness Route, a new initiative aimed at establishing Playa del Carmen as a leading destination for holistic well-being. The unveiling ceremony took place at Parque Fundadores and drew over 300 attendees, including wellness sector leaders, strategic partners, and members of the public.
A Vision for Accessible Well-Being
During the ceremony, Municipal Tourism Secretary Estefanía Hernández emphasized that the Wellness Route is designed to make well-being accessible to all. "The Wellness Route is now a reality because well-being should not be a privilege but a right available to the entire community and our visitors," she stated.
Hernández explained that the project integrates tourism, health, and community participation into a single vision, offering experiences that foster introspection, connection with nature, Mayan ancestral wisdom, and local cultural richness. "Achieving well-being is not simple—it requires discipline, dedication, and collaboration. This collective effort marks the beginning of an ecosystem that will continue to grow," she added.
Activities and Landmarks
The event featured free activities such as yoga, breathwork, running, cycling, functional exercise, meditation, rituals, and a holistic market—all designed to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
The Wellness Route includes stops at iconic locations such as the Xaman Ha cave, Pawatunes, the Mayan Arch, and the Faro (lighthouse). This initiative reinforces Playa del Carmen’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, inclusivity, and sustainable development as a destination for comprehensive well-being.
The launch underscores the city’s dedication to fostering a strong identity as a wellness hub while engaging both residents and visitors in transformative experiences.
