Man stabs 4 in Chetumal during partner dispute near plaza

Chetumal, Mexico — A man attacked at least four people with a knife late Saturday night near Plaza Chactemal in Chetumal. Preliminary reports indicate the assault occurred during an argument between the suspect and his partner at the intersection of Héroes and Efraín Aguilar avenues.

Eyewitnesses Describe Chaotic Scene

Witnesses stated that a woman and a man attempted to intervene to defend the partner during the altercation. In the ensuing struggle, the assailant stabbed these individuals and at least three others who stepped in to disarm and subdue him.

Paramedics arrived shortly after to treat the injured and transport them to General Hospital via multiple ambulances.

Suspect Nearly Lynched Before Police Arrival

The attacker was detained at the scene by bystanders, who reportedly came close to beating him to death before police officers arrived. Authorities cordoned off the area as investigations began.
