LÁZARO CÁRDENAS, Quintana Roo — The Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo (FGE) reported the discovery of two deceased individuals on a dirt road leading to the community of Santa Melba in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas. The discovery occurred on Thursday afternoon following reports of firearm detonations.
Upon the arrival of police units, the deaths of two men were confirmed. Reports indicate the victims were between 15 and 20 years of age. One was originally from Kantunilkín and the other from Holbox. It is alleged they were fleeing from armed subjects who were pursuing them on a motorcycle.
The FGE detailed that initial investigations by the Criminal Investigation Police suggest this double execution could be related to crimes against public health, a legal term often associated with drug trafficking.
Personnel from the Attorney General's Office arrived at the scene to collect evidence, initiate the official investigation file, and transport the bodies to the Medical Forensic Service (Semefo). Autopsies will be performed there to determine the exact causes of death.
Authorities are continuing with investigative procedures, gathering testimonies, and reviewing potential security camera footage that could provide information to locate those responsible for this incident.
