Two Victims Die After House Fire in Playa del Carmen Neighborhood

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Two people hospitalized with severe injuries after a house fire in the Misión de las Flores neighborhood have died, health authorities confirmed.

The victims, who were trapped inside the burning home on Flor de Primavera street near Lilis street on Tuesday, succumbed to their injuries after two days of hospitalization. Neighbors first noticed smoke and flames coming from the residence and rushed to help those inside.

According to reports, residents entered the property to attempt a rescue before emergency services arrived, managing to pull both victims to safety through a window amid dangerous conditions.

Both individuals were transported to a hospital for specialized medical care due to the severity of their condition. One victim suffered second- and third-degree burns across multiple body parts, with injuries affecting organs and tissues. The other experienced severe respiratory complications from smoke inhalation, leading to a critical condition that required intensive medical management.

Despite medical efforts during their hospital stay, both victims died as a direct result of injuries sustained in the fire.

Authorities have not yet determined what caused the blaze, and investigations remain open to identify whether external factors or internal failures triggered the incident.
