Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The State Attorney General's Office has reported the detention of three individuals for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking. The arrests were made in coordination with the Playa del Carmen Secretary of Citizen Security.
The detainees have been identified as Francisco Javier “N”, Brandon “N”, and María Esther “N”. They are accused of probable participation in acts possibly constituting crimes against public health, specifically in the modality of low-level drug dealing.
A Flagrant Arrest on Tulum Avenue
The detention occurred in flagrante delicto on Tulum Street, between Bakhalal and Hunab Ku Avenue, in the Cataluña neighborhood of the municipality. According to the report, law enforcement agents witnessed the three individuals manipulating and handing over small bags containing a green, dry vegetable with the characteristics of marijuana.
During a routine inspection, authorities secured a long gun loaded with useful cartridges, metallic magazines each loaded with useful cartridges, a tactical vest, as well as green and dry vegetable similar to marijuana and fragments of a crystalline substance resembling methamphetamine.
Legal Proceedings and Criminal Links
The detained individuals and the secured evidence were turned over to the Public Ministry of the Specialized Attorney's Office in Combating Low-Level Drug Dealing. This office is responsible for determining their legal status within the established legal timeframe and in accordance with the law.
Initial investigations indicate that Francisco Javier “N”, Brandon “N”, and María Esther “N” are linked to a criminal group known for generating violence and dedicated to the sale of drugs within the municipality of Playa del Carmen.
