Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Two separate traffic accidents caused significant material damage in Playa del Carmen on Friday, though authorities reported no serious injuries.

The first collision occurred at the intersection of 28 de Julio Avenue and Federal Avenue. According to initial reports, a van operated by Playa Express, traveling north to south on 28 de Julio Avenue, collided with a compact car moving south to north on Federal Avenue. Both drivers told authorities they had the green light and right of way, leading to the severe impact.

Both vehicles sustained considerable front-end damage. Witnesses called emergency services via 911. Municipal traffic officers arrived to conduct an investigation, determine liability, and coordinate traffic flow, which was disrupted for several minutes while crews removed the vehicles.

In a separate incident, another collision took place at the intersection of 110th Avenue and 30th Street. A gray pickup truck traveling north to south was struck by a blue Seat Ibiza as the truck attempted to merge or cross the roadway.

The impact caused the pickup truck to roll onto its side, alarming nearby residents and motorists. Paramedics assessed the occupants of both vehicles, with no serious injuries reported at the time. Traffic authorities secured the area to prevent further incidents and ordered the vehicles towed to an impound lot pending determination of driver responsibility.
