Two arrested for kidnapping in Cancún’s Valle Verde

Two detainees presented for illegal deprivation of liberty in Cancún's Valle Verde neighborhood

Cancún, Quintana Roo — As a follow-up to the case registered in the Valle Verde neighborhood, authorities confirmed that the two men detained for the crime of illegal deprivation of liberty have been presented before the State Attorney General’s Office, where their legal situation will be determined in the coming hours.

The events occurred during the “Blindaje Cancún” operation, after elements of the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit, in coordination with the National Guard, responded to a citizen report alerting about a person being held against their will. Upon arriving at the site, officers observed two subjects who matched the provided characteristics, who attempted to flee on a motorcycle upon noticing police presence.

During the intervention, agents heard cries for help coming from the location, so they immediately entered and managed to rescue a man who was tied by the hands and lying face down. The victim was evaluated on site by paramedics from the Rescue and Medical Emergencies Squad, without needing to be transported to a hospital.

In the preventive inspection conducted on the alleged perpetrators, authorities secured 21 small bags of green herb with characteristics of marijuana; 19 bags with solid crystal-type substance; seven bags with white powder similar to cocaine; and 20 small bags with solid fragments resembling crack, in addition to a yellow rope, a square-type weapon, and an Italika Cross-type motorcycle without license plates.

As a result of these events, Antonio Isaí “N”, 22, and Jesús Enrique “N”, 18, were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for their probable participation in the crimes of illegal deprivation of liberty and against health. The State Attorney General’s Office continues with investigations to determine if the detainees are related to other criminal events occurring in the area.
