Twelve suspected drug dealers in custody after arrests in Cancún and Holbox, Quintana Roo

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A state prosecutor has secured court orders to put twelve suspected drug dealers on trial after their arrests in separate operations in Cancún and Holbox, officials announced.

The State Prosecutor’s Office said judges approved formal charges against nine men and three women for drug-related offenses involving marijuana possession and distribution.

The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Dealing reported that control judges found sufficient evidence to proceed with criminal cases against the defendants. Some suspects may have ties to criminal groups contributing to violence in Quintana Roo.

All detainees now face precautionary measures, including pretrial detention in cases deemed high-risk.

Authorities said the arrests resulted from investigations and surveillance patrols in the Benito Juárez and Lázaro Cárdenas municipalities.

Holbox Arrests

Police arrested six suspects on Holbox Island in Lázaro Cárdenas for marijuana distribution and seized marijuana:

  • Miguel “N”
  • Carlos “N”
  • Alejandro “N”
  • José del Carmen “N”
  • Tahimi “N”
  • Nayeli Dianari “N”

Authorities also arrested Alfredo “N” on Holbox Island for simple marijuana possession and seized marijuana.

Cancún Arrests

In Cancún, police arrested Marco Antonio “N” in Supermanzana 248 on Chac Mool Avenue and seized marijuana, a .223 caliber rifle, a homemade firearm, magazines, ammunition, and a Nissan Sentra vehicle.

Three other suspects were arrested in Cancún for possession with intent to distribute marijuana:

  • Luis Jorge “N”
  • Jesús Efrén “N”
  • Carlos Arturo “N”

Police also arrested Brenda del Carmen “N” in Cancún for simple cannabis possession and seized cannabis.

Investigations continue to determine possible criminal connections and identify additional suspects.
