Tulum, Quintana Roo — The Tulum municipal government is creating new opportunities for local artisans by hosting monthly pop-up markets at the international airport, allowing craftspeople to sell directly to arriving tourists.
The initiative, organized through the Tourism Promotion Directorate, brings artisans to Tulum International Airport “Felipe Carrillo Puerto” to display and sell their handmade products. Tourism Promotion Director Hayde Desiree Hernández Pastrana said the program aims to boost local consumption and introduce visitors to the region’s cultural heritage.
“Today we have artisans at the airport as part of a tourism activation, so visitors can learn about our crafts and appreciate the work being done in Tulum,” Hernández said.
The monthly events are designed to establish a permanent promotional space for the artisan sector. Hernández acknowledged airport authorities for providing the space for these activities, which directly benefit local producers.
Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo’s administration continues to implement measures to strengthen the local economy by promoting artisanal talent and creating direct connections between artisans and domestic and international visitors.
