Tulum Mayor Inspects Upgrades at Jacinto Pat Library to Boost Learning and Community Space

Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo inspecting the Jacinto Pat Library with officials

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo toured the Jacinto Pat Library on Wednesday, accompanied by Education Director Nilvia Lizama, to inspect recent upgrades and reaffirm the city’s commitment to promoting education and culture.

During the visit, Castañón emphasized the importance of libraries as centers for learning and social interaction for children and young people. He stressed the need to maintain dignified spaces that encourage reading and support the holistic development of new generations.

“Our libraries are very important places that we must pay close attention to, because it is here that many children and adolescents can focus on activities that will help them in their proper formation as individuals,” Castañón said. “Although digital media has gained a lot of ground today, there is nothing better than a book in the hands of a child.”

Officials from various departments presented the services and activities currently offered at the library, which target children, youth, and the general public, promoting learning, creativity, and healthy coexistence.

The Jacinto Pat Library aims to consolidate itself as a space that fosters a love of reading and strengthens access to educational and cultural tools within the Tulum community.
