Tropical Storm Erin Forms, Poses No Risk to Mexico

Cancún, Mexico — The Miami-based National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported the formation of Tropical Storm Erin in the eastern Atlantic on Monday. Due to its current location and trajectory, the storm poses no immediate danger to Mexican territory.

Storm Details and Trajectory

According to the NHC, the center of the system is located approximately 455 kilometers west-northwest of the Cape Verde Islands and 6,160 kilometers west of the coast of Quintana Roo. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 95 km/h, and is moving westward at 31 km/h.

Meteorological authorities clarified that while Erin is not expected to affect Mexico in the coming days, continuous monitoring remains in place due to the ongoing tropical cyclone season. Officials urged the public to stay informed through official channels and adhere to recommendations from Civil Protection and local authorities.

The NHC continues to track the storm’s development as it moves across the Atlantic.
