Tulum, Quintana Roo — A joint operation by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and Municipal Police led to the arrest of three suspected extortionists in Tulum. The detainees, identified as María del Rosario “N” (24), Moisés Alejandro “N” (20), and Manuel Agustín “N” (19), are under investigation for their alleged involvement in extortion, drug dealing, and property damage targeting a local bar.

Alleged Extortion and Threats

According to official reports, Moisés Alejandro and two other individuals allegedly demanded a monthly payment of 50,000 pesos from the bar’s owner, along with permission to sell narcotics on the premises. When the owner refused, the suspects reportedly threatened to vandalize the establishment and assault employees and management. Authorities indicated the detainees may also be connected to other criminal activities in the municipality.

The three individuals have been handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine their legal status.

The arrests follow recent law enforcement actions in Tulum, including the detention of two Argentinian nationals for drug possession earlier this month. Authorities continue to investigate potential ties between organized crime and local businesses in the region.
