Cancún, Mexico — The State Attorney General's Office, through the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Combating Kidnapping and Extortion, has secured a judge's order to formally charge three individuals for their alleged involvement in acts that may constitute the crime of aggravated extortion, to the detriment of victims whose identities are withheld, in this municipality.
The events for which Pablo Eduardo "N", Rolando "N", and Maikel "N" are being investigated occurred on September 9 of this year. The suspects arrived at the subsidiary office of the "Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta" Taxi Drivers' Union to demand a weekly payment from a group of taxi operators, located in Supermanzana 70, in the municipality of Benito Juárez, as a "protection payment."
As a pressure tactic, the now accused individuals—Pablo Eduardo "N", Rolando "N", and Maikel "N"—fired multiple shots at the facade of the Taxi Drivers' Union on September 21.
Following a complaint filed by the victims, the Social Representation requested and obtained the corresponding arrest warrant from a judge. The accused individuals were subsequently captured.
After analyzing the evidence and hearing arguments from both parties, the judicial authority determined it had sufficient elements to issue the order formally charging the three individuals. The judge also imposed the precautionary measure of preventive detention for a term of two years or for the duration of the judicial process.
