Motorcyclist Dies After Colliding with Bus on Tulum-Cobá Highway

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A motorcyclist died after a head-on collision with a passenger bus on the Tulum-Cobá highway, authorities reported Thursday.

The crash occurred at kilometer 5.5 on the state highway. The motorcyclist, riding an unregistered Italika 125Z motorcycle, allegedly entered the oncoming lane and struck an Alianza company bus head-on.

Emergency services from Civil Protection and RUM company paramedics responded to the scene, where they found the motorcyclist with multiple traumatic injuries. Paramedics immobilized the victim and transported him to the IMSS-Bienestar hospital for specialized care, where he later died.

The bus driver and passengers reportedly fled the scene after the collision. Traffic police officers arrived to secure the vehicles and investigate the incident.
