Cancun, Quintana Roo — A taxi belonging to the Andres Quintana Roo union overturned early Sunday after crashing into two poles, one of which fell onto two parked cars.
The accident occurred around 2 a.m. on 20 de Noviembre Avenue at the corner of Calle 23, in the Region 233 neighborhood.
Witnesses said the driver lost control for unknown reasons, first hitting a wooden pole and then a metal one. The metal pole toppled onto two vehicles parked outside a warehouse.
The taxi ended up overturned in front of the warehouse. Despite the violent impact and the damage caused, the driver was unharmed.
The taxi, numbered 7539, was towed after police and private paramedics arrived. The driver was taken into custody and will be held responsible for the damage to the private vehicles and public infrastructure.
