Cancún, Mexico — For a second consecutive day, multiple gas stations in Cancún have experienced failures in their fuel distribution system, primarily affecting Pemex and La Gas stations across various points in the city.
Motorists reported that gas stations located on avenues such as Cobá, Andrés Quintana Roo, José López Portillo, 20 de Noviembre, Nichupté, Avenida Cancún, and Arco Norte have been unable to dispense gasoline or diesel for over 24 hours. At many stations, workers have kept the entrances open, awaiting the system's resumption to restart fuel sales at any moment.
Some motorists indicated through social media that employees informed them a system change was carried out over the past weekend, but the new platform has not yet responded adequately, causing the service interruption.
Meanwhile, gas stations from other companies, such as Full Gas, have continued to offer service normally since the morning of the previous day, generating concentrated demand at a few stations and long lines of vehicles.
To this point, the Federal Government has not issued an official statement regarding the causes of the failure or the actions that will be implemented to re-establish the supply in a stable manner, leaving hundreds of motorists in a state of uncertainty.
Experts in fuel logistics and distribution point out that problems of this type can stem from both technical failures in information systems and interruptions in the supply chain. They warn about the possibility of these issues persisting if immediate solutions are not applied.
Meanwhile, citizens and transport operators have demanded a prompt response from authorities and coordination with the affected gas stations to prevent the fuel shortage from causing greater disruptions to mobility in the city, especially in areas of high demand and heavy traffic.
