Cancún, Quintana Roo — Following investigative, field, and administrative work, personnel from the Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo located José Manuel "N" in the state of Nuevo León. The suspect was the subject of an arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in events possibly constituting the crime of aggravated extortion.

The incidents for which the accused has an open investigation file occurred on February 24, 2020. On that date, he communicated, via WhatsApp, with the victim, a woman, and demanded the sum of 50,000 pesos for the return of her son, who had been missing since February 22.

Faced with this situation, he instructed her which card number to deposit the money into, leading to a first payment of 42,000 pesos on February 25. Subsequently, on February 28, the victim again received messages on her cell phone, this time requesting 70,000 pesos, under the threat that if she did not make the deposit, her son would be killed.

The person sending the messages exerted pressure mechanisms to force her to make more payments. Consequently, on March 4, she made a second deposit of 50,000 pesos to the same account, hoping her son would be released, but received no response.

After locating him in the municipality of Monterrey, and through a collaboration agreement with the Attorney General's Office of the State of Nuevo León, José Manuel "N" was captured and transferred to Quintana Roo. There, after the requisite legal procedures were completed, he was placed at the disposal of the authority that required him, so that his legal status may be defined within the established constitutional term.
