Tulum, Quintana Roo — A supermarket employee was fatally shot in an apparent extortion-related killing after assailants approached him from behind and fired at least seven times before fleeing the scene in Tulum.
Details of the Attack
The incident occurred around 1:50 p.m. yesterday when emergency services received a report of gunfire at the Mini Súper Cynthia, located at the intersection of Gladiolas and Tulipán streets in the Ya’ax Tulum neighborhood.
Authorities from multiple agencies arrived to find a male victim with gunshot wounds. Paramedics from Salud y Vida attempted first aid but confirmed the man had no vital signs. Police cordoned off the area as investigations began.
Preliminary reports indicate the attackers targeted Jorge “N,” a Salvadoran national, shooting him three times in the lower back and four times in the head before escaping.

No arrests have been made, and authorities have not released further details regarding potential suspects or motives. The case remains under investigation.
