Stolen Classic Ford Model A Collection Recovered After Highway Heist in Central Mexico

Recovered Ford Model A classic cars on a trailer after being stolen in central Mexico

Amozoc, Puebla — A collection of classic Ford Model A cars, valued for their historical and sentimental significance among private collectors, was recovered intact after an armed robbery on the Veracruz-Puebla highway, one of the most frequent routes for cargo theft in central Mexico.

The robbery occurred on Friday, March 20, 2026, when a criminal group intercepted a white Freightliner M2 truck, identified with the number 50, while it traveled through the Amozoc section of Puebla.

The assailants forced the driver to stop and seized the vehicle, which was transporting several classic cars known among enthusiasts as “carcachitas,” corresponding to models from 1928, 1929, 1930, and 1931.

The vehicles were returning from the 7th National Ford Model A Meeting in Cancún, Quintana Roo, and were destined for private homes in the states of Puebla and Morelos.

After the robbery, images of the cars and the truck began circulating in digital groups for transporters and vintage car enthusiasts, generating early alerts about possible escape routes.

Some citizen reports indicated the unit was seen heading toward Córdoba, Veracruz, before losing track. It was also confirmed that the driver had been forced out of the vehicle by the robbers.

The immediate report led to a coordinated operation involving the National Guard, the Mexican Navy, and state agencies.

Hours after the robbery, the driver was found abandoned in the municipality of Acatzingo, Puebla. Authorities reported he was experiencing a nervous crisis but had no serious injuries.

On the morning of Saturday, March 21, through satellite tracking and citizen reports of suspicious movements on secondary roads, the unit was located abandoned on a property near a convenience store in Tecamachalco, within the area known as the “Red Triangle.”

Upon inspecting the trailer, agents confirmed all classic vehicles were complete and showed no visible damage.
