State Prosecutors Raid Clandestine Motorcycle Workshop in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — State Prosecutor’s Office agents raided a private home operating as a clandestine motorcycle repair shop in the Villas del Sol subdivision, where they found a large number of motorcycles that were all believed to be stolen.

The operation began before 8 a.m., when agents moved in on the house on Avenida Gaviotas, near the corner of Calle Guaco behind Chanolandia, escorted by Mexican Army soldiers and National Guard troops.

The raid was carried out under strict secrecy, and it was not immediately clear whether anyone was arrested or whether authorities found anything beyond the motorcycles. Several mototaxis were parked at neighboring homes, but officials said those vehicles were not connected to the search.

The property was secured with seals from the State Prosecutor’s Office.

Residents said they felt relieved by the authorities’ intervention, describing their avenue as having turned into a racetrack because of motorcycles speeding in and out of the suspected workshop. They said the situation had become so bad that they had asked for a speed bump to prevent a tragedy, noting that many children live on the block.
