Cancún, Mexico — The two men who were injured by gunfire on Friday night remain hospitalized in serious condition with a reserved prognosis, sources close to the investigation confirmed. They added that the motives for the attack are still unknown.

The aggression occurred around 7:50 p.m. while the victims were consuming alcoholic beverages inside a residence in block 13, superblock 229, on Niños Héroes Avenue. At that moment, an unknown individual entered the home and, without a word, began shooting at them.

Paramedics from ERUM transported Jaime "N", 61, who sustained two gunshot wounds: one in his left hand and another in his left leg, which allegedly caused a fracture to his femur.

Meanwhile, Mario "N" was assessed by rescue workers from the Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection, who confirmed he had multiple injuries to his abdomen, leg, pelvis, and genitals. He was transported as a first priority to the General Hospital.

Authorities reported that eight spent 9-millimeter cartridge casings were located at the attack site. These were secured by forensic specialists from the State Attorney General's Office as part of the investigation.

Agents from the Ministerial Police indicated that, for the moment, they do not have a clear line of investigation, as they continue to gather testimonies and evidence to clarify the attack.
