Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Intense rains, which have been recorded since this morning in the northern part of the state as a result of cold front number 30, have also caused severe flooding in Playa del Carmen, particularly in the municipal seat.

Among the most affected areas are the Cataluña, Chilán Balam, Villamar I, Misión de Las Flores, Las Palmas, La Guadalupana, and Villas del Sol subdivisions, as well as the Luis Donaldo Colosio and Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhoods.

Since 2:00 p.m., residents of this area have reported, through social media, various flooded sections, especially on roadways such as CTM, Sin Nombre (between Paseos Xcacel and Paseos de Sisal), Playa del Carmen Boulevard, and Constituyentes.

In response to these impacts, several teams from Civil Protection and Public Services have been deployed throughout the city to clean the absorption wells, which were obstructed by garbage.

According to the Secretariat of Civil Protection, Risk Prevention, and Firefighters, the timely response has facilitated a rapid recovery of most of the roadways in the municipal seat, as of the 5:00 p.m. cutoff.

These meteorological conditions are still generating periods of intense rains, which could last several more days, as well as a cold environment that, according to forecasts, is expected to drop even further in the coming hours.

For this reason, authorities recommended that drivers exercise extreme caution, respect speed limits, and be alert to dangerous objects on the road.
