Chetumal — The State Attorney General's Office reported that seven men have been formally charged for their alleged involvement in drug-related crimes across several municipalities in Quintana Roo. The charges were filed by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Combating Drug Trafficking, with arrests occurring in Chetumal, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum.
Proceedings in the State Capital
In Chetumal, a judge ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against Rodrigo “N”, who is accused of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. In a separate but similar case, Gilberto “N” was also formally charged with the same offense. The judicial authority ordered both individuals to remain in pretrial detention while the legal proceedings continue.
Cases in Playa del Carmen
Judicial authorities in Playa del Carmen resolved the legal situation for three individuals arrested in the Misión de las Flores neighborhood: Esaú “N”, Luis Francisco “N”, and Ricardo “N”. The three men are accused of simple possession of marijuana and methamphetamine. They will face trial while held in pretrial detention.
In that same municipality, Víctor de Jesús “N” was formally charged following his arrest in the In House neighborhood. According to the investigation, he is accused of simple possession of marijuana and crystal meth. The judge also ordered him to be held in pretrial detention while the legal process continues.
Arrest and Charge in Tulum
In Tulum, Manuel “N” was formally charged after being arrested during a joint operation conducted by members of the Municipal Police, the Investigative Police, and the National Defense Secretariat. He is accused of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. A judge ordered him to be held in pretrial detention for a period of two years while his final legal status is determined.
