Yucatán Senator Supports Local Beekeepers with Equipment

Senator Jorge Carlos Ramírez Marín presenting beekeeping equipment to Izamal cooperative members

Izamal, Yucatán — Jorge Carlos Ramírez Marín, Vice President of the Senate’s Directing Board, delivered beekeeping equipment to members of the “Miel de las Tres Culturas” cooperative to strengthen this family production activity in Yucatán.

During the event held at the Casa de Enlace, the senator stated that this occasion supports beekeepers because, in addition to producing honey and wax, they care for bees, support their families, stimulate their communities’ economies, and keep a millennial tradition alive.

Beekeeper Joel Adrián Argáez González explained that the delivered equipment allows for separating honey and wax, with better product utilization, to obtain both the sweetener and a multivitamin as well as wax for non-polluting candles, among other byproducts.

Furthermore, the federal legislator from the Green Party highlighted the importance of apiculture, noting that with technical equipment, the activity becomes more productive.

He mentioned that beekeepers are the protectors of bees and, therefore, those who allow environmental conservation, so they also deserve recognition.

Ramírez Marín committed to continuing with support deliveries to Yucatecan beekeepers, both with sugar and technical equipment.

To date, he has already delivered four tons of sugar to beekeepers from Cacalchén, Halachó, Izamal, Kinchil, and Maxcanú, which he considered “direct support to keep their hives active and, with that, protect the region’s environmental balance.”

Yucatán ranks third nationally in honey exports, although paradoxically it is among the last in local consumption, despite this food’s high nutritional value, he emphasized.
