Cancún, Mexico — Authorities have found the remains of Juan Vázquez Portillo, a 37-year-old Mexican man who disappeared in Cancún in October 2025, and have deactivated his missing person alert.
The Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced the discovery on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, through a social media post stating: “The Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office deactivates the missing person alert for Juan Vázquez Portillo. He has been located.”
Vázquez Portillo was last seen on October 30, 2025, in the Benito Juárez municipality of Quintana Roo. He was described as having light brown skin, a robust build, light brown eyes, wavy black short hair, standing 1.65 meters tall and weighing 60 kilograms.
He had distinctive tattoos including a chain design around his right arm and a spiderweb on his left knee, along with a scar on his nose. When he disappeared, he was wearing navy blue jeans and black sneakers with white stripes.
Other Missing Person Cases Resolved
Authorities also reported resolving two other missing person cases in Quintana Roo, though both individuals were found alive.
Arturo de Jesús Morris Pacheco, a 42-year-old Mexican man who disappeared in Chetumal on January 10, 2026, was located. He was described as having dark skin, a thin build, short sparse black hair, medium black eyes, standing 1.78 meters tall and weighing 65 kilograms, with a sun tattoo on his left arm.
Sammie Jason Willis, a 47-year-old American man who disappeared in Cancún on January 29, 2026, was also found. He has white skin, a thin build, blue eyes, short straight blonde hair, stands 1.85 meters tall and weighs 70 kilograms, with flame tattoos on his chest, a claw on his right arm, and a mandala on his left arm.
The prosecutor’s office thanked the public for their assistance in these cases.
