Participants and officials gather at the closing ceremony for Rally Maya Mexico 2026 in Puerto Morelos

Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — The 12th edition of Rally Maya Mexico concluded Friday at Ventana al Mar in Puerto Morelos, capping a charity-focused classic car tour through four Mexican states with donations of wheelchairs and bicycles to local residents.

Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz thanked organizers for including the destination in the event, which she described as humanitarian in nature. “We appreciate everyone involved in this great race, who alongside their passion for cars also have a great human side, making this a cause-driven event that today delivers eight wheelchairs and ten bicycles to benefit our population, improving their quality of life,” she said.

Merari noted that such events also bring significant promotion and economic benefits to the destination, allowing tourism service providers to boost their businesses while spectators enjoy the classic cars.

Rally Maya 2026 General Director Rodrigo Villanueva celebrated the successful conclusion of this edition and recognized founder Benjamín de la Peña for his vision in consolidating the event, which has become a regional tradition. He explained that the precision race has covered over 14,000 kilometers of Yucatan Peninsula roads, visiting beautiful towns with many needs, and thanked the Alejo Peralta Foundation and Telmex Telcel Foundation for their support.

Iván Bello Benavides of the Telmex-Telcel Foundation in Quintana Roo said the organization has supported communities for 30 years and participates through the “Running to Change Stories” program, contributing to social responsibility by delivering bicycles through the “Help Me Get There” program to students whose schools are more than three kilometers from their homes, providing transportation and encouraging physical activity to strengthen health and prevent dropout.

The foundation has delivered 700 wheelchairs, 2,021 academic scholarships with computer equipment, and 2,257 bicycles through its programs.

Federico Krafft of the Alejo Peralta Foundation thanked organizers for the opportunity to support people and institutions. He joined Rally Maya five years ago as a classic car collector but also to provide wheelchairs to benefit communities. During Rally Maya 2026, the foundation delivered 100 wheelchairs.

Vanessa López Páez, director of Puerto Morelos’ DIF (Integral Family Development System), welcomed participants to what she called a great event aimed at combining efforts and goodwill to help those most in need and build a more humane and inclusive community in the municipality.

Following the wheelchair and bicycle presentations, Mayor Merari gave the starting signal to classic cars from Parque Fundadores, where the vintage vehicles displayed their historic bodywork for a brief period.

The event was also attended by DIF honorary president Juanita Chacón Canché, Alejo Peralta Foundation operational coordinator Ernesto Carrillo, Sustainable Tourism Secretary Raúl Guadarrama García, and other officials and members of the public.
