Quintana Roo Tourism Portal Tops National Rankings

Caribe Mexicano tourism portal website on a computer screen

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The official tourism website for Quintana Roo has been named the best in Mexico in a national comparison of state tourism portals.

Caribemexicano.travel, which promotes the state’s 12 destinations, earned a score of 98.5 out of 100 and an “Elite” rating in the analysis by the Sustainable Tourism Advanced Research Center (STARC) at Anáhuac Cancún University. Quintana Roo finished ahead of Yucatán (95.8), Mexico City (94.0), Baja California Sur (93.1) and Querétaro (93.0).

The study measured how useful, inspiring and user-friendly each site is for travelers, looking at factors such as page load speed, mobile design, photo and video quality, ease of planning a trip, how often information is updated, and how well the site connects visitors with hotels, tours and local services.

What sets the portal apart

Quintana Roo’s site, developed by the state Secretariat of Tourism and the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ), was praised for its clean design and near-instant loading on mobile devices. It also features high-quality visual content adapted to different traveler profiles, interactive maps with real-time sargassum information, and links to booking platforms. Visitors spend an average of about six minutes on the site.

  • The portal brings together destination brands such as Cancún, Riviera Maya, Tulum and Holbox without losing clarity.
  • It operates as a genuine trip-planning tool rather than a digital brochure.
  • It stands out for its multidestination segmentation and tools that help travelers make decisions.

The study noted that many state tourism websites in Mexico still have gaps in digital security, content updates and practical value for tourists. Quintana Roo, by contrast, has emerged as the country’s digital benchmark for official tourism promotion.
