CANCÚN, QRoo — The Executive Secretariat of the System for the Protection of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents (Sipinna) has trained 74 members of the Quintana Roo Tourist Police on the subject of the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents in the Context of Travel and Tourism.

As part of the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, the initiative seeks to reinforce the capabilities of the police force in municipalities with the highest tourist traffic to detect and address the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, ensuring a rapid and effective response in adherence to human rights.

The training reviewed the concepts of human trafficking, its landscape in Mexico, the purposes it pursues, and the recruitment methods used by traffickers. Subsequently, it delved into the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents as one of its primary modalities, also addressing the profile of victims and the myths surrounding this crime.

Furthermore, the international, national, and local legal frameworks were presented, along with factors of vulnerability, risk behaviors, and warning signs, promoting reflection on prevention and the adequate handling of cases.

"The objective is for all families who visit Quintana Roo to feel protected and have the certainty that the humanist government headed by Governor Mara Lezama is working to keep our tourist destinations safe," said Jorge Isaías Quintanilla, the acting head of the Executive Secretariat of Sipinna.
