QUINTANA ROO — Former Quintana Roo Governor Félix González Canto has stated that the state's political landscape remains stable and orderly due to the leadership of the current state governor, Mara Lezama Espinosa. He asserted that this leadership allows the internal processes of each political party to advance smoothly toward the 2027 elections.
González Canto acknowledged that early political movements, which could be considered pre-campaigns, are already being observed in the political atmosphere, though he noted that the formal electoral process is still two years away.
“This is normal in politics; everyone in public service seeks to contribute more to Quintana Roo and have a relevant role in the scene,” he commented.
The former governor emphasized that, unlike other states in the country, Quintana Roo enjoys a political stability that he directly attributes to the governor's direction.
“When there is good leadership, the waters remain calm, and the aspirants follow the rules set by the political leader, in this case, Mara Lezama,” he affirmed.
Regarding his own party, the PRI, he recognized that the arrival of Amalia Castilla Madrid has given it a new lease on life, bringing a vision of professionalism, seriousness, and unity.
“She has many years in politics, is respected by various actors from different parties, and that strengthens the PRI for the future,” he stated.
Concerning the Green Party, González Canto recalled that this political force has grown rapidly in the state due to the incorporation of former PRI members in the past, which has allowed it to consolidate itself. He considered it will be a very strong contender in the 2027 elections.
Finally, he pointed out that Morena currently maintains the highest electoral preference both nationally and in Quintana Roo, making the selection of its candidates a determining factor for the contest in the next gubernatorial term.
