CANCÚN, QRoo — The Quintana Roo State Health Services have launched a campaign offering free, safe, and quick no-scalpel vasectomies in commemoration of Men's Month, observed in November.

The procedure, known as a no-scalpel vasectomy, is performed on an outpatient basis, lasts approximately 15 to 20 minutes, does not require hospitalization, and has an effectiveness rate of over 99 percent as a permanent contraceptive method. By not using a scalpel, the technique reduces the risk of infection, bleeding, and recovery time, allowing the patient to return to their usual activities within one or two days.

“It is an excellent option for men who no longer wish to have more children and want to actively share the responsibility in family planning,” health authorities stated.

The Surgery Does Not Affect Sexual Life

The surgery does not diminish sexual desire, the capacity for erection, or the quantity of ejaculated semen, as it does not interfere with the production of testosterone or other sexual functions.

Where and Until When to Register?

The campaign, which will run from November 24 to November 28, is primarily aimed at residents of Isla Mujeres and the Continental Zone of the municipality. Interested individuals must go to register at the facilities of the Director's Office of the Isla Mujeres General Hospital, between the hours of 8:00 and 14:00, with a deadline of November 14.

Requirements to Participate:

  • Copy of voter identification card (INE)
  • Copy of CURP (Unique Population Registry Code)
  • Proof of address (no older than three months)

Once registration is completed, health personnel will schedule the date for the procedure to be carried out during the month of November.

It is worth noting that in private urology clinics and offices, the price of the surgery can range from approximately five thousand to 15 thousand Mexican pesos, depending on the specialist, the clinic, and the exact city within Quintana Roo.
