Madrid, Spain — Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has arrived in Madrid along with her work team to begin the state’s participation in FITUR 2026, one of the world’s most important tourism events, where Mexico will serve as Partner Country and the Mexican Caribbean will have a strategic presence.
“We have arrived at Madrid Airport on our way to #FITUR2026,” Lezama stated. “From Madrid we begin an intense work agenda to position #QuintanaRoo, attract investment, and present to the world the new campaign for the #MexicanCaribbean, promoting tourism that generates development with justice.”

From the Spanish capital, the state leader has spearheaded the start of a work agenda focused on the international promotion of Quintana Roo, with meetings aimed at consolidating commercial alliances and positioning a tourism model with shared prosperity, in which Quintana Roo residents are protagonists of development.
Within the framework of FITUR 2026, Mara Lezama is promoting rural, sports, and sustainable tourism, as well as attracting investments and generating new alliances with tour operators, airlines, and travel agencies, from the IFEMA Madrid venue.
In a year marked by the World Cup, the governor highlighted that a new international campaign for the Mexican Caribbean will be presented. Along with the governor is also the state’s Secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto Riestra.

Quintana Roo’s Agenda and Coordination with National Tourism
As part of the first activities, the governor participated in the meeting with the country’s Tourism Secretaries (ASETUR), in coordination with the Federal Secretariat of Tourism, where the formal countdown for the inauguration of FITUR 2026 began.
Finally, Madrid will be the stage where Mexico and Quintana Roo will showcase their tourism leadership to the world.
“We begin our participation within the framework of #FITUR2026 with the first meeting with the Tourism Secretaries of Mexico (ASETUR),” Lezama announced.
