Quintana Roo Establishes Permanent Working Groups to Address Rural Needs

Othón P. Blanco, Quintana Roo — The government of Quintana Roo has launched a permanent working-group scheme to directly address the needs of rural communities across the state, the Government Secretariat announced.

The initiative began in the community of Ucum, where Government Secretary Cristina Torres Gómez met with local commissioners, delegates, and ejido representatives from Othón P. Blanco. Torres assured attendees that all requests would be followed up until a solution is found.

Key demands raised during the meeting include strengthening health services, ensuring medicine supplies, improving community infrastructure, regularizing land titles, maintaining power lines, and providing agricultural support. Torres explained that some projects could be resolved immediately, while others would need to be incorporated into next year’s state budget.

As part of the program, the Government Secretariat will coordinate working groups with agencies such as the Agriculture, Education, Public Works, Health, Welfare, and Tourism departments, as well as federal agencies when necessary. A future meeting with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) was also announced to review electricity-related requests in rural areas.

The state administration said this model of engagement will continue to expand to other localities in Quintana Roo to strengthen direct dialogue with citizens and build solutions from the ground up.
