Governor Mara Lezama speaking about new healthcare infrastructure in Quintana Roo

Quintana Roo, Mexico — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa highlighted during the program La Voz del Pueblo that at the beginning of next year, the central and southern zones of Quintana Roo will have new and modern healthcare infrastructure, with the completion of the construction of the Felipe Carrillo Puerto General Hospital and the Chetumal General Hospital. These facilities will have 60 and 120 beds respectively, in addition to operating rooms and specialized units.

She explained that, by the end of this year, the new Felipe Carrillo Puerto General Hospital shows a physical progress of 74% and will enter its second stage of equipment installation.

This hospital will provide priority care to communities in the region, as well as to the migrant population. “This is a new way of governing, from a humanist and feminist government, where people are placed at the center of decisions,” she emphasized.

Mara Lezama detailed that the hospital will have 60 beds, double the current number, in addition to a clinical laboratory, imaging area, X-ray room, ultrasound, mammography, densitometry, hospitalization area, 21 consultation rooms, emergency service, two operating rooms, surgery, toco-surgery, and tomography.

It will also have a traditional delivery room, that is, an intercultural birthing room.

“This is a service designed to accompany women during labor, dignifying the customs and traditions of women in the Maya zone,” she explained.

Regarding the construction of the new Chetumal General Hospital, the state executive head reported that it shows a progress of 71.5% and will have more than 25,000 square meters of building space.

Additionally, it will have 42 observation beds in the emergency area, three shock rooms, four operating rooms, pathological anatomy services and complete electrodiagnosis, as well as state-of-the-art equipment.

“We bring social justice to the south and hope to families. We are a humanist government, where human beings are the priority in every decision we make.”

“That is what the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo is about: closing inequality gaps and ensuring prosperity reaches every home,” she reiterated.

During the La Voz del Pueblo program, Governor Mara Lezama invited the population to visit the 173 health centers to get vaccinated during this winter season, as well as against tuberculosis, for which more than 32,000 doses are available.

She also urged citizens to join the Abrigando Corazones campaign, promoted by the DIF Quintana Roo System, by donating blankets, covers, and coats, which will be delivered to people in vulnerable situations to prevent them from facing the cold during this season.

Similarly, she invited people to consume products from the Panadería La Familia of the DIF Quintana Roo System, where Rosca de Reyes, desserts, cakes, and a wide variety of products are made to share with family. Orders can be placed by calling 983 167 3527.

The Governor of Quintana Roo urged the population to take extreme precautions inside and outside their homes, with the aim of preventing accidents, safeguarding dangerous products in safe places, and staying informed about weather conditions.

Finally, Mara Lezama announced that on December 31, the New Year’s Express of the Maya Train will be inaugurated, a four-day, three-night tourist package that includes accommodation at the Hotel Mundo Maya, welcome dinners, breakfasts, tours of the Tulum archaeological zone and the Regional Museum of the Eastern Coast, as well as transfers to Cancún and Mérida for a New Year’s pre-celebration, in addition to visits to Puerto Progreso and the Meteorite Museum.
