Puerto Morelos. Following investigations conducted by the Investigation Police, the Attorney General’s Office of the State executed a search warrant issued by a Control Judge at an establishment located in the town of Leona Vicario. There, they detained a male individual for his probable involvement in acts possibly constituting the crime of human trafficking in its labor exploitation modality.

Exposed to Physical Risks and Mistreatment

The operation took place at a commercial establishment located on the Cancún–Valladolid highway, in Supermanzana 1 of the town of Leona Vicario in this municipality. Two adolescents and an elderly person were working there. These individuals were forced to carry various construction materials and received mistreatment from the person in charge. They were also exposed to physical risks due to a lack of protective equipment.

The victims worked from Monday to Sunday in shifts exceeding those permitted by the Federal Labor Law, in exchange for a biweekly salary of 1,500 pesos. As a result of these events, Heberto José “N”, the person in charge of the establishment, was detained.

The Business Was Secured

After concluding the operation, the participating agents placed seals securing the business, which remains under the custody of this Social Representation.

The two adolescents and the elderly person were safeguarded and referred to the corresponding authority to guarantee their protection, comprehensive care, and access to their rights.
