Cancún, Quintana Roo — A state-run prosthetics program has delivered life-changing orthopedic and prosthetic devices to 22 residents across Quintana Roo, officials announced.
Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, alongside Verónica Lezama, the honorary president of the state’s DIF family services agency, led the distribution event. The program, part of a broader social inclusion initiative, aims to improve mobility and autonomy for recipients.
Authorities said the supports address real population needs, prioritizing direct care for those most in need. Beneficiaries including Obed, Daniel, Maribel, and Herminio shared that they had waited years for prosthetics before receiving them through the citizen-focused program.
The prosthetics initiative is part of a statewide strategy with an investment exceeding 8.5 million pesos, intended to deliver at least 100 supports across Quintana Roo. More than 2.4 million pesos were allocated for this latest distribution.
The DIF Quintana Roo emphasized that each support represents an opportunity to improve quality of life, foster independence, and promote social inclusion for beneficiaries.
Recipients came from municipalities across the state:
- Benito Juárez
- Lázaro Cárdenas
- Puerto Morelos
- Playa del Carmen
- Tulum
- Othón P. Blanco
The stories of those who received the devices highlight the program’s impact, allowing them to resume daily and work activities.
