Cancún, Mexico — A judge has ordered preventive detention for Johan Ricardo “N”, alias “El Ruso”, for his alleged responsibility in the crime of aggravated homicide. The ruling follows his arrest by elements of the Investigative Police of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo (FGE).
The detention occurred in late August when “El Ruso” recklessly crossed Arco Norte Avenue with Chac Mool, in supermanzana 253, nearly causing an accident and attempting to assault uniformed officers. After verifying his information with the C5 Security Complex, it was confirmed that he had an active arrest warrant against him.
During a press conference, Attorney General Raciel López Salazar detailed that the events for which the suspect is accused took place on December 28, 2024. According to the investigation, Johan Ricardo “N”, along with two other individuals, went to the Avante neighborhood where the victim, Miguel Ángel, allegedly operated a drug sales point.
The investigation indicates that Miguel Ángel was beaten in different parts of his body and strangled by “El Ruso” and his accomplices. Subsequently, his body was wrapped in sheets and thrown into a cenote in the city.
Authorities state the homicide originated from a territorial conflict. The victim had reportedly complained to his leader after “El Ruso” entered his zone to sell drugs. Both individuals belonged to the same criminal group but operated in distinct territories, which led to the fatal aggression.
The detainee was presented before a control judge, who imposed the precautionary measure of mandatory preventive detention while the investigation into the case continues. Authorities assured that they will continue working to clarify the facts and determine the responsibilities of all those involved.
